Pre-Silence Predictions – Last Day (5)

Already our last day in the retreat and actually we think that we do not want to leave. We have embraced the silence and love the fact that our mind and body are more balanced. We will meditate and practice yoga in the morning and have breakfast with the other people in the retreat of whom we don’t even know their names. Probably we will head of around mid-day with mixed feelings, because life back home will be different. Our best friend and roomie left and we actually plan to get some more structure in our life in Bali.

During the silent retreat, we want to look into our intention of our stay in Bali, set our intention and focus on it. Next to that we most definitely will be lost in thoughts while driving back home to Uluwatu because of this truly amazing experience.

Pre-Silence Predictions – Day 4

After 3 days of silence, we expect that our mind is starting to become more at ease with being silent. We probably can align our thoughts better as we have been meditating and practicing yoga and of course we have used our diary to write down our thoughts.

Not talking will probably feel more natural and we will follow our instincts and let go of thoughts that we do not want to align with. We will start the day as usual with meditation and yoga and join the day program which ever one is offered. We will write a lot and just absorb the beautiful scenery that is so immensely different from Uluwatu.

One thing we are almost certain we probably will miss is surfing.

Pre-Silence Predictions – Day 2

Most definitely we will wake up half-broken, as we want to get up at 5 to join the meditation class. We feel awkward, as usually we have quite a bunch of people around so not talking will feel weird. Meditation is completely new to us, we are kind of scared of it but also like the challenge to really listen to all the conversations in our head. After meditation, it is yoga time. This always feels good as surfing made our muscles quite tight. To not talk during meditation and yoga is probably not that weird but afterwards we will definitely be encountered with our wish to say something to someone.

And then a whole day ahead of us. What will we be thinking, writing, seeing? We think that we will be restless and feel an anxiety to do things or say something. At the end of the day, we are sure we will have difficulty sleeping because of all the thoughts in our head.

Stay True To You

A couple of years back, one of us decided to take a tattoo. A tattoo that tells and reminds us that we should always be true to who you are. It is written in Dutch and literally it says: “I love myself”. Questions are asked whether we really need to remind us of that, and we think we do. Life can get distracting. Whether it is at work in the office, or even in the ocean, during a yoga session or at a party. You can be distracted by external factors and ask more from yourself than YOU actually want or need at that moment.

We feel that we should always follow our heart, stay true to our own paths and choices…stay true to ourselves.
